Hello Falcon Families!

We are looking forward to the upcoming 2022 Spring Softball season! We will have a few minor changes this year for the softball coordinator roll.  HS Coach Jim Morrissey will be taking a step down and Scott and Jennifer Klawitter will take on the majority of this roll. Coach Morrissey will still show up to practices at random and will also put on clinics for our youth.  Please make sure that you sign your daughter up for those when they come out.  They are good for ALL levels of play!

We will open softball registration on January 6th and it will close February 27th. We are excited to get this season in full swing. So let's get ready to play some ball!

This year we will be adjusting the enrollment fees for the 2022 season. We take pride in offering some of the lowest enrollment costs and scholarships to ensure every youth in the DC West school district has the chance to participate and haven’t raised our rates in 8 years. There will no longer be a deposit, instead a one time flat fee. Although we are not giving the incentive to volunteer this year, it is still a vital part of our success. Our goal is to make youth sports costs for our community as low as possible to break even. We hold fundraisers to update and add to our facilities. For example, our new scoreboards should be up for the start of the season! The continued goal from the Youth Sports Organization is to maximize the experience for our kids.

We have coaches and assistant coaches for most age groups and teams.  However, it normally takes a team of 4 or 5 adults to make each practice and game a success.  If you are willing to be one of those coaches helpers, please indicate that when registering your daughter or reach out to Jennifer Klawitter and let her know.  We are continually trying to build the DC West/Concordia softball program into a highly competitive program year in and year out. To do this, we must develop the players in the community. This means we need coaches and helpers who can teach the game and develop the players love of the game.

We do not want a child to be left out!  If your child wishes to play but funds are difficult, please apply for scholarship during the registration process and our board will determine funds availability. We do ask for all scholarship recipients to volunteer to the program. We will need help at our concession stands, with coaching/assistant coaching, parent help at games/tournaments, opening day clean up, and with coordinating uniforms (sizing, ordering and distribution).

Copies of birth certificates of players are also required at registration.  This is needed to purchase the player insurance and to be a registered player in the league we participate in. Please email that information to jennifer.klawitter@hdrinc.com.

Softball Registration fees cover uniforms, umpire costs and field maintenance and player insurance:

Go Falcons!

The DC West Youth Softball provides opportunities for youth players as follows:

T-Ball (open to both girls and boys in preschool and kindergarten)
• Co-ed teams, coach pitch, play is against other DC West Co-ed teams.
• Practices and games are typically on Saturday mornings at the 4-Plex. Typically the first half of the practice/game is practice time then the last half is the game.
• Multiple volunteers needed to help encourage and show the kids how to play and where to go. There are usually a good number of players out. If we can break down groups into smaller numbers it is advantageous for everyone. Please let me know if you would like to help.
